Removing your bandage.

#1

If you have saniderm/tegaderm on: Leave the bandage on for the next 3 days. once those three days are up, run the bandage under warm water for a bit, and then pull and stretch the saniderm off slowly. Wash with anti-bacterial unscented soap and pat dry with a clean towel.

If you are wrapped up with another bandage: Leave the bandage on for about 1-2 hours after your appointment, then you can unwrap and wash with anti-bacterial unscented soap and pat dry with a clean towel.

#2

Give your tattoo some time to breathe.

Let your tattoo dry out for a full 24 hours after you remove your bandage. Don’t moisturize immediately.

#3

Keep it clean.

After you have let your tattoo dry out for 24 hours, clean your tattoo with unscented, antibacterial soap twice a day. I recommend once in the morning and once at night. Pat dry with a clean towel, never rub or exfoliate your tattoo while healing.

I recommend Dial unscented antibacterial liquid gold soap for cleaning your tattoos.

After you wash, moisturize your tattoo with a small amount of white, unscented healing lotion,

I use Cerave Moisturizing cream but there are many alternatives you may already have at home! Aveeno, Gold Bond, and Cetaphil are all brands that carry unscented healing lotions, and there are many more!

Avoid;

- Aphaphor, vaseline, or anything petroleum-based. Products like these can lead to over-moisturizing your tattoo. This can trap bacteria in your wound and suffocate your tattoo.

-Anything scented, even brands labeled “all-natural” or “handmade” can harm your tattoo if they are scented with fragrances or essential oils. Stick to the basics.

Mouisterize.
